The purpose of this jobis:

The Head of Investment Analysis and Benefits Realisation provides the deep analytical capability within the Investment & Value Office, building a comprehensive evidence-based view of where investment is being directed, what is driving cost and whether programs are on track to deliver their expected benefits. Through robust analysis and insight, the role identifies opportunities and provides decision grade commercial advice to recover, protect and create additional value across Bupa's significant project investment portfolio.

How will I help?

  • Provide independent challenge and insight on major investment decisions, ensuring business cases, forecasts and value assumptions are supported by robust evidence and analysis.
  • Design and maintain the analytical model that connects Planview investment and milestone data with general ledger actuals, forecasts, contracts, workforce and contractor data, benefits registers, operational KPIs and strategic outcomes.
  • Establish the analytical frameworks, measures and reporting required to assess investment performance, forecast accuracy, cost-to-complete, benefit yield, milestone performance and cost of delay across the portfolio.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of business cases, portfolio forecasts, Finance actuals, procurement commitments and vendor expenditure, ensuring investment decisions are informed by accurate and trusted data.
  • Drive greater transparency of consultant, contractor, systems integrator and vendor spend, identifying opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, Technology, Strategy and Portfolio Leaders to identify, quantify and realise savings, avoided costs and value recovery opportunities across the investment portfolio.
  • Lead deep dive reviews into material investments, testing assumptions, cost build-ups, delivery dependencies, benefit logic, adoption outcomes and downside risks to improve investment decision-making.
  • Establish enterprise standards for benefits measurement and value realisation, ensuring benefits are measurable, attributable, evidence-based and linked to operational and financial performance outcomes.
  • Direct targeted investigations into emerging cost pressures, benefit leakage, delivery risks and performance issues, providing clear recommendations and practical actions to improve portfolio outcomes.
  • Provide strategic insight and advice to the Director IVO, Portfolio leaders, sponsors and the Enterprise Investment Committee, influencing portfolio prioritisation, investment choices and long-term value creation.

What you’ll need to make it possible:

A degree in finance, accounting, economics, commerce, data analytics or a related discipline is required. Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CFA, CIMA, an MBA or equivalent are highly regarded.

Success in this role will come from a strong background in commercial financial analysis, corporate finance, investment analysis, strategy or portfolio management, combined with the ability to translate complex data into clear, strategic insight. Experience bringing together financial, procurement, workforce, vendor and delivery data to uncover opportunities, challenge assumptions and improve investment outcomes will be highly valued.

A naturally curious and commercially minded approach will enable you to look beyond reported results and understand the factors driving performance. You will be comfortable testing business cases, forecasts and benefit claims using evidence-based analysis, while applying expertise in investment appraisal, financial modelling, forecasting, scenario analysis and benefits realisation to identify where value can be created, protected or recovered.

The ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders is critical, supported by strong judgement, attention to detail and confidence in presenting data-driven recommendations. Advanced Excel are essential, while experience with Power BI or similar analytical tools would be advantageous.
